In light of COVID-19, we are doing our best to keep our doors open for as long as we possibly can. As such, we are modifying our hours, located in our Contact section.
We are taking heightened safety precautions during this time to help stop the spread of COVID-19.
In order to protect the safety of our staff and clients, please DO NOT walk into our hospital. When you arrive at the hospital please wait inside of your vehicle and call 626-799-5900. Please notify us if you are here for an appointment or to pick up medication.
If you are arriving for a scheduled appointment, a technician will come out to collect your pet and bring them inside of the hospital. In the interest of protecting our staff and clients, we require you to wear a face-covering during any staff interactions, such as handing off your pet to a technician.
The veterinarian is going to call you to discuss all information about your pet’s condition and address your concerns.
We are only accepting payments using credit cards, Care Credit or Scratch Pay. At this time, we are not accepting cash. We do not accept checks.
Please inform our staff if there’s any possibility of illness in your household in order for us to take the necessary precautions.
Thank you for your continued support, kindness and understanding during these challenging times. We will continue to be here for you and your pets for as long as we can.
The best care for your best friend
Our aim is to be the best veterinary clinic in the Pasadena region, where our expertise and equipment are situated in a peaceful environment where pets will feel good. Dr. Swimmer personally designed Vet Villa with her husband, a theme park designer who owns the business next door, to have a beautiful layout and flow. The interior of the animal hospital is bright and airy, with calming blue accents that animals respond well to, so patients will feel welcome. Soft jazz and classical music are played throughout the animal hospital, and the individual patient rooms are designed for patient comfort, with adjustable lighting and call buttons. We strive both to provide the best care, and for visits to feel tranquil and enjoyable for our patients.
Expertise you can trust
Vet Villa Animal Hospital was opened in July 2018 by Rebecca Swimmer, whose purpose was to take her knowledge, experience, and passion for caring for animals to provide the best pet care for the community. Swimmer has degrees in Animal Science at the University of Illinois, as well as a Master’s Degree in Neurobiology from Harvard, and veterinary school at Tufts. She moved to California to intern at the Animal Specialty & Emergency Center and worked in overnight emergency for several years, which made her a strong doctor who still takes emergency cases and provides stabilization. Transitioning to general practice allowed her the freedom to get to know the animals and watch them grow through all stages in life.
A state-of-the-art animal hospital
Vet Villa Animal Hospital has state-of-the-art equipment, including x-ray machines, ultrasound, and an advanced monitoring system that gives complete chemistry, blood count, coagulation , urine analysis, and urine sediment profiles. It also has an in-house laboratory and pharmacy.
Oxygen is also available right in the examination rooms, so that animals needing oxygen support can spend time with their pet parents without having to be kept in an impersonal oxygen chamber in a back room.
Our veterinary clinic offers one of the array of services in the Pasadena area, including:
- basic wellness such as puppy and kitten exams, vaccines, and nail trims;
- general practice surgeries, including bladder surgeries, spay and neuter, and dentistry;
- an experienced staff of doctors and animal technicians, including a cardiologist who visits frequently;
- access to additional veterinary specialists and surgeons in the Pasadena region to refer patients to when necessary.
Honest, affordable, and family-owned
Dr. Swimmer opened Vet Villa because of her lifelong passion of caring for animals. Her goal is to provide animal care that is not rushed or impersonal, but is attentive and compassionate.
Over years of working with patients at other clinics, she has seen how other clinics are being bought up by one of two national conglomerates, so that a "local" animal hospital can actually be part of a big factory. After hearing many patient horror stories about corporate-owned places can churn through clients as fast as possible to maximize revenue, Swimmer opened Vet Villa to provide real care, putting patients first.
We may not be the cheapest pet clinic in the country, but our prices are affordable and honest, and we won't try to upsell you on any "treatments" that your pet won't really need. Vet Villa accepts all types of pet insurance. We explain everything and give you true options, and always keep it real, so that you can be sure that you are getting truly the best care you can get for the pet that you love.
Vet Villa is a woman-run, family-owned business, and we think that the love that we put into designing and staffing the hospital really comes across. We’re passionate about being here and being part of the South Pasadena community.
